Early-retirement pension is a type of state old-age pension.
The following persons have the right to receive early-retirement pension:
- permanent residents of Estonia;
- aliens residing in Estonia on the basis of temporary residence permits or temporary right of residence.
A person who has earned the pension qualifying period of 15 years in Estonia has the right to receive an early-retirement pension up to three years before attaining the pensionable age.
If the required pension qualifying period has been obtained, the following persons have the right to an early-retirement pension:
- Men who have attained 60 years of age;
- The right of women born between the years 1944 and 1952 to receive an early-retirement pension arises at the ages provided as follows:

The right of women born in 1953 or later to receive an early-retirement pension arises upon attaining 60 years of age.
Early-retirement pensions are granted for life and shall not be r-calculated as old-age pensions or as old-age pension under favourable conditions. Early-retirement pensions are not paid to employed persons who have not attained general pensionable age. After attaining general pensionable age, early-retirement pension shall be paid for employed persons.
